Coat German Long Shepherd
The coat german long shepherd dogs is a seperate type of dog than the short coat or white.
The first dogs of this breed (white) were reimported into Switzerland in the early 70s. Earlier, white-coated dogs had been eliminated from the breed standard in USA as well, the male "Lobo," whelped in USA 5th March 1966, had been registered in the Swiss Stud Book (SHSB.) The descendants of that male, together with other white shepherds imported from USA and Canada, gradually multiplied. There are now several thousands dogs of this strain, pure-bred over several generations and distributed throughout Europe.

To become well-adjusted and reliable in any situation, these large and powerful dogs need early socialization with various people and pets. Though these dogs have a strong protective instinct, they should be tolerant to other pets and children. Being very attached to the owner, these dogs suffer from separation anxiety greatly. This breed is well known for its work as police dogs, search and rescue dogs and guide dogs. These dogs also make excellent companions for active families; they like to participate in shows and are good at obedience and agility.
